Santa is late

Okay, I am very late getting back to this, and sincerest apologies for that. The holidays have just kind of whacked me upside the head and left me dazed. But, with any luck, I’ll have these back on track now and be posting daily once again. Wish me luck.
Today’s prompt is taken out of the spirit of the season. What would happen if Santa Claus was late? This is possibly not something you could work into your current novel, but extra kudos if you can, the goal here is simply to get something written and your theme is a late Santa.
