Writing Prompt: A dress

Okay, so maybe it is not that inspiring of a writing prompt, but it is what was in my SPAM filter so why not? Is your heroine a tomboy that never wears a dress? What might get her into one? Did your hero accidentally damage someone’s fancy dress and is trying to repair the damages? Maybe your space faring crew has arrived at a planet or space station and one of them is thinking to buy a dress in the local style for themselves or a friend/girlfriend/mother? What might the dress be like?
You don’t have to get into fashion designing, maybe see if you can describe a dress in a manner that people know what you are describing without actually saying that the person is wearing a dress?
