Writing Prompt: Sticky

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Has something sticky found its way into your story? Maybe gum on the underside of the table that interferes with placing a bug there to spy on the conversation? A new substance found in an alchemists’ lab that is super sticky and just caught your thief in the act? Did your hero break a vase and then glue themselves to it as they were gluing it back together?

Writing Prompt: Newspaper Clipping

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Work a newspaper clipping into your novel.  Maybe there is a kindly old lady that is always sitting at the bus stop clipping coupons out of the newspapers left there by morning commuters? Does your character have a hard time talking to their mother because the woman is always clipping articles out that have been written about the character and filling a scrapbook?  Does your writer spend their time clipping ideas out of newspapers?  Did the killer have a collection of newspaper clippings taped to the wall of their apartment?

Writing Prompt: Strange Sounds

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Okay, I just had the strangest thing happen, so that is your writing prompt for today: strange sound.  I ain’t sure what it was, just a funny sound like my cat burped softly on the stairs, but he ain’t there.  Very weird and something that I am sure could be used for great potential in any genera – particularly the scary ones.
