Exhausted and asleep as I type this, so I am going to point you all to someone else today.  Fanstring Theory has a good one up tonight on what would happen if the end of days got here and someone was to make a last ditch effort to save some of mankind by sending them to another world somewhere.

This little box just speaks to the muses in all kinds of ways.

Hidden diary pages that tell where some pirate hid his treasure? The lost ledger pages of a shipwreck? Diary pages from some stranded sailor’s journal?

Once again SXC helps us out with this picture by Streuli Silvan.

This is a picture of Horseshoe Bend, about 5 miles south of Page AZ on highway 89.

It looks a bit more like some kind of crater on Mars or something.

What if the first men on Mars discovered something like this? A crater that had gone unnoticed, but had a deep ring of water around a central pillar of some kind?

What might it be? Some ancient Martian missile silo, the silo filled with water and the cone of the intergalactic missile still sticking up out of the deep hole?

This lazy fellow is from the New York zoo.

Is he plotting his escape? Dejected because that polar bear they used to have up in Alaska got a show and t-shirt and he has yet to tag his first tourist?

Maybe he is depressed because he was just told he is gong to be released into the wild and will soon have to fend for himself and not get fed daily?

Is some hapless traveler abut to walk up on this fellow out in the wild?

This is another SXC picture, this one by Billy W. who describes it as “Female Tree hopper in the front yard!”

It looks more to me like the forward guard of the alien insect invasion.

Possible writing ideas would be to explain what kind of alien this is, or to create a story about someone finding one of these guys.

If you want to go for non-fiction you could research what these guys are and write an article on them.
