Flowers

Is there some way to work flowers into your story? Maybe have a character picking flowers, or seeing a field or garden in bloom? Maybe they are thinking about flowers as they gaze out at the winter landscape or from the window of their space ship? Did your crew just find fossilized flowers on Mars?
I once had a scene in a story I was working on where the queen was sitting in her garden in the winter and the court magi in an effort to cheer her made a rose bloom for her.
Perhaps the protagonist opens a book and finds a pressed flower? Is it some kind of clue? Maybe a poisonous flower that was of the kind used by the killer in your mystery?
There are a lot of ways to work flowers into a story, from real flowers to a portrait on the wall of flowers. Maybe a picture of a bride with her bouquet or a dozen roses delivered to someone. A single crumpled boutonnière or corsage on the back seat of the car the police have found?
You probably have at least the basics of an idea for how to keep going in your story now, so take it and run with it. Happy writing.
